The YMCA focuses on teaching healthy activity, teamwork, and family involvement. Serving children from infancy to teen years, our programs are designed to help the youth of today grow to healthy, successful, happy adults of tomorrow.

We not only teach martial arts we also teach social skills and character development. The social skills development focuses on “What We See, What We Say and What we Do” starting with our inner thoughts. Helping kids and adults to build strong self awareness and high self esteem, we give them the tools to overcome negative thoughts and the negative messages they receive from society through exposure to music, television, video games, social media, and bullies.

Children learn while being active in our state-of-the-art facilities. Our trained, licensed and knowledgeable staff can help parents sign kids up for enrichments such as karate, tennis, STEM, cooking, yoga, Zumba, archery, fishing, crafts, and more.

It’s easy to jump in a group exercise class during the work week. Classes are offered in the early morning, lunchtime and evening. The Studio at the Downtown Y features small group training classes and yoga classes in a studio separate from the wellness facility. The Downtown Y validates parking in the Fort Brooke garage after 5:15pm, up to two hours; enjoy a work out on new equipment and don’t worry about your car.

We offer After School pick up for Schwarzkopf Elementary, Lutz Elementary, Maniscalco Elementary, and Sun Lake Academy. Summer Camps for kids 5-12 Years old. We also offer Adult and kids Striking, Wrestling, and Gracie Jiujitsu classes.

Sports performance training: VAST creates an atmosphere that is like no other when it comes to performance training. Our detailed and energetic training style helps to bring out the best in you.

Tai-Jitsu translates as ‘Body Art’ or ‘Body Science’. A member of the Ju-Jitsu family it also incorporates striking techniques along with grappling. Our Lil’ Dragons program teaches real self-defense techniques against adults and other children.
